Decade of the 1970's

Gordon, ('76) Cheryl, and James Roedding
Gordon is a 1975 graduate of ECS, the oldest of four brothers who would later follow in his footsteps. His father, Gordon Sr., was on the founding board of ECS when it started.
At the age of seven while attending a missionary conference at his church, Gordon heard a missionary from Mali. He was profoundly moved. He prayed that God would send him to this land someday.
After graduating with a MA in Communications from Toccoa Falls Christian College, Gordon met and married Cheryl. She had been teaching bilingual education for six years. Together they answered the call to go to the land he had prayed for as a youngster. Their son, James, was born while they were missionaries there.
They have been on the field in Bamako, Mali for twenty years. Contrary to the idea that most people have of missionaries to Africa, Gordon and Cheryl don't live in the jungle in a little grass hut but rather in a large city. There they work with the professional class of men. They are training them to reach out to others and tell them about Jesus.
This past fall, the Roeddings returned to Toccoa Falls College to serve as Missionaries
in Residence. There they have shared what they have learned on the mission field and
have tried to impact other Toccoa students to answer the call for missionaries around the world.

Gary ('78) and Amy ('81) Roedding
After graduating from ECS, both Gary ('78) and Amy (Brock '80) went to the Christian Missionary Alliance College at Toccoa Falls, Georgia. The couple married and returned to Ft. Myers for a while. Gary spent several years teaching Bible here at ECS. In 1990, the couple and their young family, daughters, Kara, Kaylyn, and Kassandra answered God's call to the Mission Field. They have served the last 18 years in Quito, Ecuador at the Alliance Academy International School (AAI). There they have been house parents, teachers and filled in where ever there was a need.
Their oldest daughter, Kara, has since married and she and her husband, Mark, have been ministering at the Bloomingdale Alliance Church. Mark was recently accepted into the Billy Graham Mission Program at Wheaton College.. He will be pursuing a master's degree in missions. Kaylyn is settled in as a freshman at her parents' Alma Mata, Toccoa Falls College. Her favorite non-academic pursuit is playing volleyball. Kassi is going full bore in her last year at A.A.I. She is serving as class secretary and vice president of the school's National Honor Society. She has lived in Quito since she was 3 months old.
This will be Gary and Amy's last year in Quito. The school is closing and the family is moving back to Toccoa Falls where they will serve a one year term as Missionaries in Residence. They will be replacing older brother Gordon Roedding and family who have held the position this year.
ECS is definitely a family affair for both Gary and Amy. Gary was one of four brothers and Amy one of four sisters, all of whom graduated from here. Gary's father was a long time member of the school board. Amy's mother, Kathlene, was one of ECS first and much loved front desk receptionist for several years.
Lori Anne Goodwin Browne (79)
I attended Edison College after graduating ECS and managed a large preschool and daycare. I met my husband David in 1987 and we were married in May of 1989. In 1992 we moved to Tallahassee, Florida where we both completed our college degrees. I finished my degree in accounting and David completed his masters degree in nursing. My husband owns and operates a medical clinic where he works as a nurse practitioner.
In our down time, David enjoys playing farmer Browne with all his fruit trees and vegetable gardens. I am an avid runner. I completed a half marathon and am in training for my second one. We both enjoy martial arts, kick boxing, cooking, traveling together and our three dogs. I volunteer for the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association and the American Heart Association. My husband and I are both active in our church. I immensely enjoy being an aunt to my sister, Caroline's four children who all attend ECS.
For the past fourteen years I have worked for the largest sports medicine clinic in northern Florida and am currently the lead supervisor in the MRI Department and also work in the financial division. I am also the accountant for David's office.
I am tremendously impressed with how ECS has grown since I graduated. This is certainly a school that has been blessed by God. I am happy my nieces and nephews are attending and receiving a fine education from such dedicated teachers.
