The Lower School at ECS provides a warm, Christ-centered environment where students are encouraged to thrive. We are committed to academic excellence through a Biblical worldview, nurturing both the hearts and minds of our students from the very beginning.

Academic Excellence, Biblical Perspective

Our curriculum combines a strong academic foundation with rigorous instruction across all grade levels. Students benefit from a consistent depth of learning, using a variety of instructional strategies such as:

Daily Enrichment & Electives

K4–4th Grade students enjoy a balanced day that includes:

  • Daily Recess & PE

  • Electives: Art, STEM, Spanish, Centers, Music, Library

5th Grade students participate in rotating schedule:

  • Daily PE

  • Daily Electives: Art, STEM, Spanish, Music, Library, Drama

Michelle Shuford
Lower School Principal

Mrs. Michelle Shuford joined ECS in 2001 as a lower school teacher and has served as Lower School Principal since 2009. Her love for children and passion for Christian education drive her commitment to creating a nurturing environment where students learn from a Biblical worldview.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from FGCU and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. A strong advocate for missions, Mrs. Shuford has participated in several trips both locally and abroad. She and her husband, Robert, have been married for over 20 years and are active members of First Christian Church.
