Evangelical Christian School (High School) is home to Troupe #7624 of The International Thespian Society (ITS). Through participation in performing arts classes, productions, FACCS and ITS district competitions theater students earn membership in this prestigious honor society.

acting up!

Grade 6 – (Intro to Acting)

Acting Up! is an entry-level course designed for students interested in learning the fundamentals of acting. Through theater games, improvisation, and simple scripts, students build foundational performance skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Performance is an integral part of the course. Students participate in sketches for weekly Lower School chapel and are encouraged to compete individually in the annual FACCS Fine Arts Competition. Members of Acting Up! are also invited to audition for the ECS Spring Musical, presented by the Fine Arts Department.

Grades 7 & 8 – Theatre Performance (Intermediate Acting)

This intermediate-level course is designed to develop students’ dramatic skills from audition techniques to final performance. Students explore a variety of theatrical pieces and performance styles, working to refine their acting abilities and stage presence.

Coursework includes line memorization, performance preparation, and occasional quizzes on theatrical concepts. Active participation in class performances and the Fine Arts Department’s Spring Musical is a required component of the course.

Students are also encouraged and coached to compete individually in the annual FACCS Fine Arts Competition, gaining valuable experience in both performance and adjudication.

Grades 9 through 12 – Advanced Theatre Studies

This advanced-level course is designed for serious drama students seeking to deepen their understanding of both performance and the broader world of professional theatre. Students continue to hone their acting skills while exploring the literature, history, and structure of the stage.

In addition to performance training, the course introduces technical theater elements, including script writing, producing, and directing. Homework includes line memorization, script analysis, and quizzes on theatrical theory and history.

As a performance-driven course, participation in class productions is required, including the Fine Arts Department’s Spring Musical. Students are also encouraged and coached to compete in the annual FACCS Fine Arts Competition and participate in local ITS (International Thespian Society) competitions.
