ARTS

The Fine Arts department at Evangelical Christian School plays an integral role in providing a well-rounded education aligned with our mission of providing a Christ centered education. Arts education is the synthesis of all other disciplines.

Foundations in Fine Arts

At Evangelical Christian School, we believe that the arts are an essential part of a well-rounded, Christ-centered education. From the earliest grades, our Fine Arts program invites students to explore their God-given creativity through engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in music, visual art, and performance.

Beginning in Lower School, students participate in foundational arts electives designed to introduce core techniques, foster imagination, and build confidence in self-expression. Whether learning rhythm through bucket drumming, exploring melody on a recorder or ukulele, or experimenting with color and texture in visual art, these early experiences open the door to creative discovery. Each lesson is thoughtfully designed to nurture artistic curiosity and reflect Biblical truth—helping students recognize and celebrate beauty as a reflection of God’s character.

These formative years lay the groundwork for continued exploration and growth in the arts throughout Middle School and High School, where students can pursue focused studies in band, orchestra, choir, drama, art, and video production. But the foundation starts here—with opportunities to try, create, imagine, and express.

Through the ECS Fine Arts program, students don’t just learn to perform—they learn to worship, to reflect deeply, and to communicate meaningfully through the universal language of the arts. And it all begins with the Foundations.

6th Grade Performing Arts

All 6th grade students are required to take a performing arts course, and we strongly encourage students to choose an instrument at this stage. Learning to play an instrument has been shown in numerous studies to significantly benefit brain development, enhancing skills such as memory, concentration, and problem-solving.

Students who study music often demonstrate higher academic achievement across multiple subjects. At ECS, our performing arts program helps students build discipline, confidence, and creativity—laying the groundwork for continued success in both the arts and the classroom.

Middle & High School Fine Arts

ECS offers a diverse range of Fine Arts classes for middle and high school students, providing opportunities for creativity, expression, and skill development across multiple disciplines. Course offerings include various levels of Drama, Choir, Band, Orchestra, Art, and Video Production, allowing students to grow artistically and pursue their individual interests and talents.

“The final aim and reason of all music is nothing other than the glorification of God and the refreshment of the spirit.”
