Friday, December 15th Competitive Cheer Walking the Halls

Friday morning our Competitive Cheer Team will be walking the halls as the entire school cheers them on. Our girls are traveling to their State Competition! Please pray for safe travels.

Divisional Chapels

With all of our growth, we completely fill the west side of the bleachers. We understand that some parents enjoy watching the Chapels live and some prefer to attend in person. We have been discussing options of how to make room for parents. Beginning on January 11th, we will set up some additional seating by the Sentinel Cafe where visitors may sit. This seating will be limited. We ask if at all possible that students continue to sit with their class as there will not be enough seating set up for the number of parents that once attended. Please keep in mind that we will continue to live stream all of our Chapels for families to watch at home as well.

Quarter 2 Ends with Midterm Exams

Midterm exams are quickly approaching. The date for these exams is December 18-20. As a reminder, any and all missing/makeup work must be completed by end-of-day on Wednesday December 20th, as this will be the last day of the 2nd quarter. The office will close promptly at 4 pm.

Attendance

Semester 1 is quickly coming to a close. According to the Parent/Student Handbook that was signed at the beginning of the year, If a student accrues 10 or more absences (excused or unexcused) in a semester in any class, extra work will be given for the student to complete in order for him/her to pass the class. The amount of work given will depend upon the number of absences. Failure to complete the additional work before the end of the semester will constitute a failure for the semester.

Students who are impacted by this attendance policy will be notified via email and teachers this coming week. All extra work assigned for excessive absences will be due before students leave for Christmas break on December 20th.

I encourage you to check Renweb if you are in need of exact and up-to-date attendance information for your student(s). If you believe there is an error in your student’s attendance record, please reach out to Mrs. Allen in Student Services (callen@goecs.org). Please note, if your student is benefiting from the Family Empowerment Scholarship, and is found to have excessive school absences, funding could be in jeopardy. ECS is required to submit attendance records for all scholarship recipients at the end of each semester.
