Head Varsity XC Coach
Gary Rullo

Coach Gary Rullo leads the Evangelical Christian School Cross Country program with a steady hand, a deep faith, and a passion for building student-athletes both on and off the course. Since taking over the program, Coach Rullo has emphasized discipline, consistency, and a Christ-centered mindset—qualities that have propelled ECS runners to notable success in recent seasons.

During the 2023 season, the ECS Cross Country team saw one of its most competitive years to date. Multiple runners achieved top-10 finishes in district meets, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams qualifying athletes for the FHSAA Regional Championships. Under Coach Rullo’s guidance, ECS standout athletes delivered personal bests throughout the season, including multiple sub-18-minute finishes on the boys’ side and strong sub-22-minute performances for the girls.

Notably, ECS sent an individual runner to the FHSAA State Finals, marking a significant milestone for the program and reflecting Coach Rullo’s ability to bring out the very best in his athletes. His coaching philosophy centers around glorifying God through effort, integrity, and perseverance—a mindset his runners carry into every race.

Beyond performance metrics, Coach Rullo fosters a strong team culture that values spiritual growth, servant leadership, and a family-like environment. His athletes are not only becoming better runners, but better disciples of Christ.

When he’s not coaching, Coach Rullo enjoys participating in local races, spending quality time with his family, and staying involved in the ECS community.
