The ECS Pre-Law Professional Program provides students with a strong foundation for understanding law, justice, government, and ethics through both academic study and a biblical worldview. Through courses in introductory law, criminal law, business law and ethics, and constitutional law, students explore the principles that shape the American legal system while examining how faith, justice, stewardship, and ethical responsibility intersect with the law.

Designed for students interested in law, government, business, criminal justice, or related careers, the program encourages critical thinking, thoughtful discussion, and a deeper understanding of how legal principles impact our communities and culture.

Introduction to Law is designed as an introductory course to the Pre-Law Professional Program. Students will receive an overview of the types of law, the US court system, the general litigation process, and dispute resolution. Special focus will be placed on the unique history and structure of our court system, including the foundational biblical concepts for our system of jurisprudence. Careers in law will also be explored.

Students will be introduced to the purpose and sources of criminal law. Students will learn about the elements of a crime, the types of crimes, and possible defenses. Criminal punishments will be explored, with a special focus on the biblical perspective of justice.

This course covers biblical concepts of negotiation, agreement, and business relationships, presented alongside a study of contracts. Students will be introduced to property law and will explore concepts in personal, real, and intellectual property. The biblical concept of stewardship will be presented alongside the study of property. Tor liability, prevention, and mitigation will be examined. Students will further explore the duties of the principal/agent and selected topics in employment law. Each topic in the course will have its own ethical considerations, and a brief overview of the study of ethics will also be included.

Students will examine the history of the US Constitution along with its underlying biblical values and themes. Students will explore the concepts of separation of powers, the branches of government, and whether the branches are fulfilling their intended roles under the Constitution. Students will learn about key rights provided and how they play out in modern culture by studying US Supreme Court cases.
