Evangelical Christian School Statement of Faith:
Our Statement of Faith is based on fundamental Christian beliefs that we strongly support as the primary doctrine for teaching. ECS does not promote or endorse any particular denomination. It is our desire to maintain this position for the purpose of unity and fairness to each student. Other doctrinal issues upon which this ministry has no official stance will be considered secondary doctrine and will not be taught. In the event that secondary doctrine is brought up, students will be referred back to the family and church for final authority. We desire to remain united in the salvation and love of Christ and to avoid any dissension that may be caused by denominational distinctives.
WE BELIEVE
* The Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. (1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Tim. 3:15-17)
* There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 45:5-7; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14)
* In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His death and resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory. (Luke 1:35; Gal. 4:4-5; Heb. 4:15-16; Col. 2:9; John 10:27-30; Matt. 28:1-15; Acts 1:6-11; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 19:11-21)
* We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again victorious over sin and death. Only those who, by God’s grace, repent of their sin and believe in Him as their Lord and Savior are born again by the Holy Spirit. We are saved by grace through faith alone, entirely apart from human works. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 1:12,13;3:3-16; 5:24; 10:28,29; Acts 13:38-39; 16:31; Romans 3:21-28; Ephesians 1:3-14; 2:8-10; Philippians 1:6; Titus 3:3-8; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 1:23)
* In the resurrection of both the saved and lost; those who are saved unto the resurrec- tion of life and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:25-29; Rev. 20:13-15)
* In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that the true church, with the Lord as their Savior, is the body of Christ. (Eph. 4:4-6; Rom. 12:4-5; 1 Cor.12:12-13)
* In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. (John 14:17; 16:7; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 4:30)
* That God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen. 1:27; 2:23-24; Matt. 19:4-6)
* That God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman, and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that union. (Matt. 19:4-6; Eph. 5:22-33; Heb. 13:4; 1 Thess. 4:3-8)
* In accordance with the school’s recognition of Biblical authority, no immoral conduct will be tolerated, including identifying statements related to immoral conduct. The Bible strictly forbids immoral conduct and the advocacy for such sinful behavior. (I Thess. 4:1- 8; 1 Pet. 1:14)
The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Evangelical Christian School’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is Evangelical Christian School’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
