Evangelical Christian School’s Fine Arts Department delivered another unforgettable performance this spring with its original musical, The Czar of Hollywood. Written by Scott Michael Branan, Ron Branan, and Karissa Branan, the production showcased not only the creativity of its writers but also the depth of talent within ECS’s student body. With vibrant storytelling, dynamic musical numbers, and a uniquely modern twist, the show captivated audiences and highlighted the school’s continued commitment to excellence in the arts.
At the heart of the production was a compelling and imaginative storyline. The Czar of Hollywood follows a runaway teenage actress on a journey filled with colorful characters and unexpected lessons. Along the way, she encounters personalities such as a Brainless Politician, a Heartless Rapper, and a Preacher lacking courage—each contributing humor and heart to the narrative. Ultimately, the story delivers a meaningful message about identity, purpose, and the importance of home and family, resonating strongly with audiences of all ages.
The cast brought this story to life with energy and authenticity. Standout performances included McKenna Davis as Dotty and Chloe Chandler as Mariana, both of whom carried key moments of the show with confidence and stage presence. Bruno Chagas added charisma in the role of Xcess, while Ruthee Wisner and Ari Lowmaster delivered strong supporting performances that helped drive the storyline forward. Parker Incledon’s Marv character presentation was spectacular, and Emma Sapp and Colton Boring added depth and emotion in their portrayals of Mom and Dad. The ensemble cast played a critical role as well, filling the stage with enthusiasm and helping create a full, immersive theatrical experience.
Behind the scenes, an equally dedicated crew ensured the production ran seamlessly. From set design and construction led by Scott Branan and Stuart Bower to lighting design by Kyle Humphries, every technical element elevated the performance. The costumes, props, and stage management teams worked tirelessly to create a polished and professional atmosphere, while the orchestration by Noah Dennis and musical leadership brought the show’s original score to life. The collaboration between students, faculty, and volunteers demonstrated the strength of the ECS Fine Arts community.
More than just a performance, The Czar of Hollywood served as a celebration of creativity, teamwork, and storytelling. It provided students with the opportunity to grow in their talents while sharing an inspiring message with the community. As ECS continues to build its reputation for outstanding Fine Arts programming, productions like this set the standard for what is possible when passion and dedication come together on stage.
